Luka Rocco Magnotta compte abandonner sa demande d’appel

Luka Rocco Magnotta, accusé du meurtre prémédité du jeune étudiant Jun Lin, avait été condamné en décembre dernier à la prison à vie sans possibilité de libération avant 25 ans. Il avait décidé suite à cela de faire appel de cette condamnation, mais il semblerait qu’il est prêt à accepter sa sentence en abandonnant sa demande d’appel.

Alors qu’il est attendu mercredi devant la Cour d’appel du Québec afin de plaider sa cause, il semblerait que Magnotta va annoncer le retrait de sa demande d’appel. Aucune confirmation n’a été faite sur le sujet ni par l’avocat de Magnotta, Me Leclair, ni par le Directeur des poursuites criminelles et pénales du Québec.

Luka Rocco Magnotta, qui avait reconnu sa culpabilité, avait essayé tout au long de son procès de plaider « non criminellement responsable » du meurtre de Jun Lin en mettant en avant ses problèmes de santé mentale, mais le jury ne l’avait pas cru. Il a également été reconnu coupable d’outrage à cadavre, production et distribution de matériel obscène ainsi qu’harcèlement du Premier ministre et des membres du Parlement.
